If I could change the world, how would I change it? Of course, I must first decide what I want to change and what into. Afterwards, I must think of a way on how to achieve that change. As a young individual, I think that the best way to change the world is rather than doing anything too big, I just have to make it a priority to go out of my way in small amounts to bring that world about. Everybody changes the world in some way, whether they set out to do it or not. It’s like making a carbon footprint. What we do in our everyday lives has an impact on the world. Sometimes it’s for the better.
Other times it’s for the worse. Just coming up with workable and positive goals and decisions in life will make a favorable impact on the world. The first thing I want to have in the world is a clean environment. I know that this would not happen in an instant so if given the ability, I would make each person do things like reducing the amount of trash they generate, the amount of water they use to bathe or shower, decrease energy and electricity consumption, and cleaning up the immediate environment around their homes. These things, though simple will truly make a difference.
I believe in the saying, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world. ” Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing themselves. The problems facing the world today are great, and it will surely take the greatness of millions if not billions of people working together overcome them. Changing the world does not happen overnight, but it won’t happen by not making an effort either. Our role is just as important as any other person. While we might think the little things we can do are insignificant and have no effect, with enough people these small things add up and make an even bigger change.
It all starts with us, and our willingness to help create the world that we dream of. We don’t have to be someone famous or have a political position in order to make a change; we just have to be committed. Another thing is the lack of peace in our world. If I am given the ability to change the world, I would change all the people’s hate into love. Love can change the world. Not the romantic, head-over-heels kind of love, but selfless love. Selfless love is giving of yourself, your time, and your resources for the benefit of others. It is caring about others’ quality of life and helping those in need.
What makes us human is our capacity to love. Love is that quality that erases prejudice and moves us to forgive, gives us peace of mind in a turbulent world, and keeps us sane. This kind of love starts with having compassion. I would remove selfishness because when we live selfishly we have no concern for anyone else. All we care about is pleasing ourselves, and people around us often get hurt. Eventually we start using people and stepping on their toes because it makes us feel better or it advances us in our career or our popularity.
We see no problem with using others because it benefits us and we do not even think about how they might feel. We do not think about others because we are too consumed with our own lives, because we have no love for anyone but us. If there is love, there is peace. There would be no discrimination, no bullying, no violence, and no war. Everything will be just and equal. People loving one another will truly change the world for the better. These two changes that I want to do if given the chance will surely make the Earth a perfect place to live in.
