The method statement is for the deglazing, reglazing and fitting of aluminium mullion and beads to existing aluminium frame. All workers to report to named person on site. Sign visitors book and to wear a work pass at all times. This method statement is to cover all aspects of doing this contract in a safe working manor and to eliminate in any Possible Accidents.
Once glaziers have signed in to cordon off a large working area below the window frame that they will be working on, and to put down all warning signs, cones, and cordoning tape. Once all areas are secure the glaziers can proceed to the room where they will be working to cover up with ground sheets if required. To have all of their work tools and safety work wear at hand in the working area of the room. Head Glazier to put on their safety harness and to secure webbing to harness and affix other end to secure – use only as a short working webbing so you do not trip on it. Glaziers are ready to proceed with the work in hand. Glaziers should be wearing all of their safety work wear- Gloves, Hardhats, Cuffs, Goggles, and safety boots.
Before proceeding with the glazing of the windows make sure that all below is still in place. De glaze glass – use glass cutter and suctions – Remove small pieces at a time – all glass to be boxed. Once all glass is out, clean and prepare frames for fitting of mullion, beading and angle beads. All old glass to be taken down using wheeled trolley Do not carry broken glass. All glazing materials to be carried up in a safe and proper manor using goods lift. Mullion and beads to be cut to size and fitted to existing frame.
All drilling to be done with only battery operated drills. Once the mullion and beads are fitted the glaziers to fit double sided glazing tape to all rebates fit 6. 4 laminated glass on setting blocks and to push onto glazing tapes. To fit all other angle beads and to seal all windows and joints. Glass to be cleaned and to have a kite mark in lower corners. All sills and floors to be left clean and tidy.
All ground floor to be completely cleaned and all tapes, cones and signs to be taken away. Then to make all good rebates. Then to fit new mullion and glazing beads, angles and glass. To seal all joints and to leave site clean and tidy. Having assessed all of the risks that might arise from doing the work are of the following: The window tube changed is on the 4 th floor and all work to be done from in side only. All glass and waste to be placed in waste box and wheeled down to works vehicle. Do not carry waste glass. All work to be done to WBL Glass and Glazing and Health and Safety Glazing Policies. All areas to be clean and tidy before leaving site..
