The role of a People to People Student Ambassador is to interact with many people from other countries and discuss our differences and find a way to live in peace and keep peace. While traveling to the British Isles, I will be representing the United States of America. I will be accompanied by others of my age that are my teammates. Together we will learn and accomplish a lot in so little time. We will make a difference.
I would like to go overseas and broaden my knowledge regarding the British Isles culture, agriculture, architecture, sport, countryside and music. I would like to enhance my education and learn that people from other countries are exactly like us. They are as fortunate as us. They have the small opportunities as we have.
A People to People Student Ambassador behavior should be like grown adults. I should remember my manners at all times. I should be kind, courteous and polite to everyone I meet. I should extend courtesy to others hoping to receive the same courtesy back.
President Dwight D. Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States founded the People to People Student Ambassador Program. President Eisenhower believed that ordinary citizens of different nations, if able to communicate directly, would solve their differences and find a way to live in peace. People can make the difference when government cannot. People can keep and promote peace. This Program was started in 1956.
I researched the People to People Student Ambassador Program on the Internet and read literature from the library.
